Concept Art – Carthis Arena

Greetings, travelers!  It’s been a little while since we’ve seen any locale concept art, so I figured it would be a great time to see some of it now.  We’ll head north of the Great Boundary mountains now, and we’ll take a look at one of the arenas that is now seeing a resurgence thanks tot he advent of TowerSphere.

Below, you’ll see a rather rudimentary first look at the arena that is stationed along the northern coast of Blacklehn.  This ended up looking a little too much like a caldera, and we made some adjustments.

The arena for the Carthis TowerSphere team is situated north of the city, along the broken coast of Draconis.  Long, long ago, one of the rulers of Blacklehn, King Roark, left a cataclysm in his wake.  There used to be far more land up there, but it has since sank to the bottom of the ocean.  You can still vaguely see another island out there in the distance.  The arena itself has a look of a coliseum.  It’s made of ancient stone, which we’ve seen in the concept pieces of the team and the inside of the arena.  And you can also see the cliffs that it sits upon.

Wern stepped it up for us when it came to the final iteration of the arena.  You can see a lot more refinement here, and that translates into something that looks a lot more lively, even with the black and white color palette.  Things like this help to make the world feel rich and real, and that helps to give more character to not only this part of the world, but the people who live in it.

That will wrap us up for today, but we’ll have more to show off for TowerSphere in the weeks and months to come.  See you soon!
