Welcome travelers. We’re back looking at one of the cities of Tellest, and to their sigil.
We’re looking at one of my favorite sigils in the fifth set that Francois did for us. I love the way we made this wolf look like its fur is a bunch of knives. It turned out really well, and it makes me want to spend more time with the orcs of Felwain.
Felwain is, however, on a continent that we have yet to spend much time in. I’ve known a story that I wanted to tell for some time that takes place in Lionel, but I may have outgrown it, and it may need to undergo some changes in order to fit in the new timeline. In any case, we have seen a few characters from Felwain, though most of them were introduced through Quantum Quest. In any case, the orcs of this city are fierce but loyal, both qualities of which are captured well in the sigil.
Now, one of the things that we haven’t seen too much of yet in the Tellest universe is demons, but we know that they’ve played their part historically. They’re just not where the focus is right now. But as we pitch forth into the greater tapestry, they’ll have to make a comeback. We know that demons play a big part in several of the areas of the world, and in fact, one of those places is Felwain. Demons are said to inhabit the same caves along the mountains that Felwain calls home, and its greatest warriors have carved out bases within the tunnels in their efforts to protect the city. It would therefore not be unlikely to have the sigil of their home in several areas throughout the mountains. Over time, it very well could get chipped and worn.
As Felwain is surrounded mostly by land on either side, except for a river a bit farther southeast, there wouldn’t be a lot of opportunities to see this beautiful sigil on the high seas, or anything along those lines. But, as Felwain and the orcs thereof are big on mining, it might not be too crazy to think that they would have their banners hanging from nearby caves that they lay claim to.
The Felwain sigil is creative, but it’s also a simple enough concept for someone without a tremendous amount of artistic talent to paint into place if they’ve lived in sight of it all their lives. Imagine being a demon, and actively being frightened by the sight of such a sigil. That is the kind of legacy that the orcs of Felwain have cultivated, and why they’re still here many years later, despite the presence of an infernal, otherworldly threat.
As always, we leave you with one final picture: the phone background. I hope you enjoy it!
That’s it for today, but we’ll be back with more sigils very shortly. See you soon!
