Good morning folks, and welcome to our final day of Otherworldly goodness for the week. We’ve got a bit of a one-two punch in store for you today, and we’re starting off with a powerful historical fantasy from a talented author. Read on to learn more about A Hero’s Welcome.
Historical fantasy fans already loved author Daniel Kelly’s alternate version of the ancient world, thanks to his debut, The Fall of the Phoenix. But when his newest book in the series, A Hero’s Welcome (Heroes of Troy, Book 2), released, he surely cemented himself as a fantasy writer to look out for. Kelly refined everything that readers already loved about the first book in the series, and enhanced his repertoire. His characters are sharp, his action is punchy and well-paced, and the span is understandably epic.
TROY HAS FALLEN
The greatest city on Earth has been reduced to a pile of smoldering ash, but the cost has been high. The fabled king Priam with the last remnant of the city, knowing all hope of survival is gone, sacrifice themselves in a last act of defiance to destroy the greek army. His once mighty army destroyed, his alliances in ruins. Agamemnon crawls for the safety of his fortress walls of Mycaenea well aware that enemies will smell blood in the water. But after ten years at war, who could you trust to keep your throne safe?Running for their very lives, the refugees of Troy search the sea’s of the Mediterranean for refugee led by Aeneas. Somewhere they can survive, in the hope of one day bringing vengence to their home. Achilles had a son, whom some call Pyrrhus. Having missed the great war, he is determined to prove himself by hunting down the refugees. Odysseus, having helped them escape feels duty bound to find the refugees and warn them of their peril.
Daniel Kelly shines his storytelling light in all the right places, leaving the shadows where they need to be to set up the perfect schemes and revelations yet to be revealed. And in this incredible alternate version of the world’s history, there is still so much to explore, and Kelly is certainly a storyteller up to the task. But for now, we have two spectacular epic fantasies that focus a lens on an important time in the past that readers will love returning to. While we wait for more from that era, dive into the great books that are here and ready for you. Check out A Hero’s Welcome (Heroes of Troy, Book 2) on Amazon today.
