Concept Art – Mirror of Despair

Howdy!  I’m back once again to show off some cool Tellest artifact artwork, and today we’re looking at yet another one that I haven’t featured in any stories yet.  That said, there may be another project these are going to end up in.

First up, we’ll look at the artwork for the Mirror of Despair that we passed on.  Azot always does an excellent job for Tellest, but sometimes we need to tweak some things about the artwork.  In this case, we got something awesome, but it just didn’t fit what we were going for.  The mirror of despair is more of a handheld object, and you can see we’ve got a skeleton taking a bath in it down there!  I loved the Mayan / Aztec inspiration, but we did think the little limbs looked a little too… uncomfortable.

Below, you can see the changes we ended up making to it.  Here, it was more of a hand mirror, though the influences changed to something looking a bit more eldritch.  We haven’t really explored that in Tellest, but that’s not to say they don’t exist, and I guess with Azot’s choices, there’s at least something going on there!

The mirror of despair reflects terrible things to those who look at it.  It drives them to madness, or shows them dying in a terrible way.  It’s not the kind of thing you’d willingly look into if you knew what you were getting yourself into.

Once more, we’ve got a great new artifact to play with in the Tellest universe.  You can be sure that we’ll see this in a Tellest project before long!

We’ve still got more on the way, so keep your eyes peeled!
