Greetings, travelers. Once more, we are going to take a look at the world of Tellest through the lens of one of its cities. Read on to learn more about a city we haven’t visited yet, and to see its sigil!
Grim’s Hold is another of the cities that we were able to pull based on an old game concept that sort of languished on my hard drive for a long while. Now, we’re able to identify that it is a troll city that is set on the continent of Erenea. As for the reason it’s the dragon emblem you see below, it all harkens back to the rumor that trolls continue to feed the fire of. Because most trolls have somewhat scaly skin compared to many of the other races of Tellest, they’ve taken to spreading the word that they’re actually descendants of dragons. Now, whether or not that is true, the trolls of Grim’s Hold have the golden dragon head on their sigil.
One of the things that you’ll probably realize in learning about the trolls of Tellest is that they are very varied. There’s all sorts of body types, though the hulking brutes seem to show up as leaders in some cases, and just because they’re larger than others, that doesn’t mean they are mindless. But often, they do go hand in hand. The most violent lot of Grim’s Hold are most likely the ones who cause the most damage, and that includes damage to buildings, where you just might see the sigils created. And while some trolls no doubt get along just fine with others, there are those who very likely hate the idea of putting city over self, so some of the damage might have even been done deliberately!
While we’ve previously seen a troll city tucked away in the mountains, with Skar’dell, Grim’s Hold is a city that is close to the coast of Erenea, and they’re as happy to spread to the sea as they are the surrounding countryside. They have their own fleet of ships, and their banner would strike fear into anyone seeing their ships from afar. Moreover, they would likely lean into the motif even further, adding other dragon symbolism to their vessels to further frighten their enemies.
As much as versions of the sigil are destroyed in the city of Grim’s Hold, new art would be constructed to spread the word of the great dragon and their followers. Especially when your sigil is as frightening as what the trolls have here, you would have every desire to spread the word far and wide that you are part of the terrifying citizenship of this growing place.
As always, we leave you with one final picture: the phone background. I hope you enjoy it!
Next time we’ll be back with a more diminutive race, but one that’s proven to be just as destructive when they want to be. See you then!
