Greetings travelers, and welcome to another one of our treasure commissions. This time, we were working on something similar to the Terraform Lantern. The idea with Terraform lantern was that it basically made new land wherever the user was using that magic. In this case, the Sphere of Reconfiguration changes the position of one land mass with another. I don’t quite know the true power of this artifact yet, but imagine there was a mountain range keeping you from assaulting your enemies, and you just swapped it out with some pleasant plains. That’s what the Sphere of Reconfiguration could do. Would it do less in some other cases? Yes, probably.
You can see a little bit of a line in the first sketch, but this almost electrical-looking energy that flows through in the second image really sells you on the idea that the lands are two distinctly different things.
This treasure might not be one-of-a-kind, but it does have some cool powers no matter what version someone might happen upon. Earlier it looked like it could be a sort of disc, but Steven did some more lighting on the object that really does make it pop and look more 3D.
On this darker blue, which almost looks like it could be a darkened river, the Sphere really pops. You can see all sorts of details that Steven included. It’s incredible that he so deftly told two stories here, connecting them in beautiful ways.
