Character Art – Shadowsect Ranger

Greetings, travelers!  Once more, we head to the arena, to see what people believe they can be heroes of the great game of TowerSphere.

The Shadowsect Rangers are a group that we introduced way, way back in the day, previous to even The Bindings of Fate.  They show up in Tellest Revolution, and the “book that shall not be named”.  But the most popular one that we know is Eclipse Clarion, who we have not yet seen in the new timeline.  That’s not to say that we’re completely leaving the Shadowsect Rangers out to dry though.  At least one of them, here, has dared to venture out of the comfort zone that is the Spirit Woods, and partake in one of the greatest sports known in the world of Tellest.  And Sergei brought him to life in some awesome ways indeed.

We made a couple of adjustments, because we thought the character looked a little too eastern Asian.  And while, in theory, that would have worked, the group is based a little more in Native American culture, so we wanted to reflect that a bit more.

I’m absolutely certain that either version would have turned out great, but we might want to save the previous style for if we ever go to Numasa for a character or something along those lines.

When we add a little bit of color, you can see that we’re trying to help the ranger here blend into nature a little bit.  We’ve got some lovely shades of green and brown which really make this warrior pop.  Now, that might not do wonders for him in a sandy arena like Atalatha’s, but in a place like Viscosa, should he ever travel there, he might be better equipped.  Plus, I’d like to think that as he makes a few coins here and there, he would have a wider range of attire suited for each arena.

You’ll notice in our final look at the character that we tweaked things just a bit more.  His face looked a little too cool, and we also thought that the bright red quiver was sort of antithetical to the blending in we talked about earlier.

All in all, though, Sergei delivered another great piece of art, and we can’t wait to show you the next one!
