TowerSphere Art – The Carthis Kaltauri, Arena and Team

Hello there folks, and welcome to the arena.  We’re going to be looking at another preview of TowerSphere, the event that is sweeping Tellest.

In times past, the heroes of Atalatha would meet the champions of Carthis on the battlefield, but an uneasy peace has been reached, and an unrivaled time of tranquility has been found on Draconis.  The people of Blacklehn and Raleigh have bound hands to one another, and have sworn off any further bloodshed.  But that isn’t to say that there is no sport to be made of battle.  TowerSphere is a perfect place for great fighters and powerful arcanists to test their mettle.

On the northern coast of Blacklehn, there is a part of the continent that long before fell into the sea at the end of the reign of Roark, the Mad King.  In the ruins of that place, an arena has been fashioned that serves as the home base of the Carthis Kaltauri, the TowerSphere champions that represent the best of Blacklehn.  Below, you can see Wern’s initial sketch of the place.

It’s steep, it’s dangerous, but to the Blacklehnian citizenship who wants to see sport, it’s home.  With a slight splash of color, you can see that the place doesn’t really grow too much more comfortable looking.  With different sorts of stonework at play, there’s a strange cacophony of sights and sounds to behold here, as though the fighting is right beside you.

A bit more detail helps to add context beyond the reach of the stadium.  Though the north was long ago under the tyrannical hold of Roark, the sky will sometimes pierce through the clouds there, reminding the people of the realm that there is some hope yet to be found.  Of course, on the arena floor, the combatants might not quite feel the same.

A beautiful but dangerous obsidian floor means that every fall is felt to its fullest.  Each painful thud and smack against the stone resonates to those who behold the battle.  Attendees might feel as though they’re one with the champions below, but they’re separated by the stone border that surrounds the contestants.

With the erection of the towers, the true nature of the arena comes to bear.  Before TowerSphere, no one ventured to the ruins north of Carthis.  Without a way to sate their bloodthirst, the people of Blacklehn might have gone mad with the notion of conquest.  Is it possible that this new game is giving them some outlet to let go of their rage?

And here you have it.  The arena is all put together, and you can see your champions.  Led by Pendrich of Arex, the Carthis Kaltauri, including other notable combatants, Schirner, Renault, Prodigy, and Mookina, spend much of there time here in the arena, under the watchful eyes of the Blacklehnian populace.

I hope you liked what you saw of the Carthis Kaltauri’s arena!  We have other teams to show off, but each of these places has their own sort of feeling.  It’ll be a bit of time before we are able to put the other teams together in this way, but they’ll arrive in time.
