Sigil Art – Ashcombe

Greetings, travelers!  It’s sigil time again, and today we’re looking at another of the ones from Blacklehn.  In D’Aprile’s Fools, we were introduced to Ashcombe when we first met Leonell, who had found employment there after he was chased out of his childhood home earlier.  We learned then that Ashcombe’s primary industry revolved around soap, so that meant that unfortunately, piggies were on the chopping block.

At the time that we had first seen them, they were a small village, but the timing of D’Aprile’s Fools is a bit nebulous.  We know that it takes place long before Bindings would have been set.  But the new timeline means that other such things might be happening around then.  Does it take place around the time of Adelia’s first adventure?  Or was it before then?  I haven’t quite nailed down the details, but the heroes therein would be older than Adelia and Luca by at least a few years.  And that means that Ashcombe would probably have grown some.

That’s not to say that they would have a sizable enough growth to have a fleet of ships, but trade has probably improved such that their caravans bear flags or canvases with the pig emblem.  And who knows, they might have some ships that help them transfer their goods overseas, or even farther around Draconis.

While Ashcombe is an old enough place that a few of our older main characters were aware of it and spent time there themselves, it probably didn’t have the infrastructure at the time to have painstaking art placed in various places.  But as we mentioned last week, time has definitely moved on since then, so there may be some places in the village (or city, if it’s grown enough yet) to have a bit more presence.

Even if the sigils wouldn’t be old enough to be chipped and worn, they’re still enough to be painted here and there, especially as more people move to the town, and begin to build it up.  This painted sigil below is probably as complex as their symbol gets, though!

Once again, we end our post with a phone version, if you’re looking to represent with this town!

Still eighteen more sigils to come, and our next one takes us out of Blacklehn for the first time in this set.  We’ll still be in Draconis though, so we’ll be in familiar territory.  That’s it for today though, so thank you for joining us, and we hope you have a fantastic week!
