Cover Art – Wild Magic

Greetings travelers, we’re kind of late getting the cover art imagery of Wild Magic up on the Tellest website, but I figure, better late than never, right?

One of the things that I had going on in my head was that we never get to see a lot of fantasy that takes place in tropical locales.  We had previously talked about the Okelatsho Islands because one of our characters from Blessings and Curses was there, and I wanted to integrate that into the bigger piece of the Tellest puzzle.  We thought giving Adelia an interesting reason to go there would be fun.

Leo did a very good job of putting together the concept quickly, and it didn’t take long at all.  In fact, the very next version of the cover was pretty darn close to the final image.

The one difference, which you’ll see on the actual cover, is that we shortened Kaleo’s mentor, Halemano, in order to make her look a bit bigger.  And we gave Lucinda a little bit of thickness as well.  Both of these women have a bit of substance to them, and we didn’t want to lose sight of that.

That’s it today.  Just a pretty quick one.  Hope you enjoyed seeing the few steps we took to get here!
