Character Art – Jian

Greetings fellow travelers!

It is my great privilege to show you another new character that we’ve been working on.  This one has been noodling in my brain for about half a decade at this time, and you’ll likely be able to see some connections to another character if you’ve been with us for a while.  All will be revealed tomorrow, at any rate.

Jian is a character from Daltain, who will end up meeting with Gaston and Adelia, who are interested in helping him learn how use his powers to their greatest effect.  Wern wanted to give him a sort of shaolin monk stance, but we did end up dialing back the clothing choice a little bit, just to make sure it didn’t look too modern.

Jian has the ability to summon celestial glass, which he does in a more offensive capacity, hence what you see here in the second image.  All those daggers are summoned, but they’ll do just as much damage as a real one.  But he could do anything he wants with the celestial glass, include create stairs, walls, a canoe.  Basically anything with substance he would be able to make.

He’s also connected to another Tellest character.  As it turns out though, we haven’t touched her yet either.  Shiro was introduced in art form way back in 2020, however, and Jian is her grandson. While we’re not going to spoil everything, Jian was able to inherit her abilities, and they’ve been dialed up to 11, thanks to other parts of his lineage as well.

In this final look below, we get to see Wern’s final interpretation of the character, which we are so happy about.  Jian is a character who I’m so excited to play with in the Tellest universe, along with some other characters who will be joining our sandbox at around that same time.
