Greetings travelers, and welcome back to our special look at Quantum Quest: Merge Dungeon.  When last we looked at the relic chambers in Merge Dungeon, we were looking at the last preview for the weapons that you could find in that game.  Now, we get to see some new shields from our set, including a few that are beginning to look a little exotic.

We start with some shields that show a little more embellishment on the front.  These are mostly square-shaped, although the first two have a slight downward angle at the bottom.  What you’ll see most of all, of course, is the spikes on the fronts of these shields.  From left to right we have: a sentinel shield, which could be used for guard in general, but in the Tellest universe might even exist for the soldiers of Sentinel; then we have a spiked shield, which is great if you’ve got the finesse to be able to use something like that; and then possibly something for our dwarves in universe, we have the battlerager shield.

Again, things just get a little more exotic from here, and in this case, we’re seeing some shields that are likely inspired by, if not used outright by the rhinotaur of Tellest.  Here we’ve got the lancer shield on the left, the tusker shield in the middle, and the dragoon shield on the right.  While the first two might be more inspired by rhinotaurs, it’s also very possible that the third is meant to be used in battle by dragonriders (whether they’re real dragonriders or just playing at them).  In any case, each of these shields is designed to allow its wielder to use a spear alongside it, attacking in the gaps that exist where they can.

And that is going to wrap us up on the Merge Dungeon front for quite a while.  We’ve still got every desire to try and return to this game when we can tick off a few wishlist items, but that might be a little ways off—it might even require a rerelease.  But in any case, we’ll let it breathe for now, and focus on other projects in the meantime.  Hope you liked seeing all this!

Hi there travelers.  We’re back today with another very quick look at some of the items you can merge in Merge Dungeon—outside of the monsters and creatures, that is.

While we already looked at a set of weapons, they’re starting to get pretty vicious here.  We went with our mace and flail set here, and found some things that are a bit spikier and smashier.  As always, Sergei did an awesome job making these look realistic and lively.  We have a Morning Star, and Flanged Mace, and A Double Flail ready to inflict some pain on the pesky adventurers.

Things really start to open up when you begin adding swords to the mix.  While most of what we had seen so far looked pretty standard, the swords allowed us to be a little more decorative.  We started with a Broad Sword, and made our way to a sort of grooved Flamberge.  Our Greatsword has some pretty gnarly looking spikes, and then we have a very cool Double-Bladed Sword.

That is going to be it for our weapons preview.  We still have about seventeen weapons left in the game to be discovered, and they end up getting pretty crazy as the game goes on.  We don’t want to spoil all the fun.  However, we will be showing off more shields soon enough, so be on the lookout!

Hello there!  A few weeks back we looked at a new short series of art pieces here on Tellest, specific to Merge Dungeon.  Back then, we were looking at some of the early weapons that you could get in the late game which would enhance some abilities.  Now it’s time for us to look at the first set of defensive equipment you could find for yourself.

Just as with the weapons, we start with some pretty rudimentary items.  I think even farmhands and peasants would look at the first shield you see here and just kind of scoff.  But if you’re a lowly imp in a dungeon, you’ll use whatever you can get.  And maybe you’d just hope that the weapon your foes are using are crude too.  By the time you get to the round wooden shield, maybe you’re deflecting a few more blows before your poor shield falls apart.

Once we get into some embossing, your little foot soldiers are doing all they can to hold the line.  You’d still feel like you were getting your bell rung if you were going to take a hit from behind one of these shields, but if you handled yourself well, you’d still have your limb, and that’s pretty important.  The bosses also help to deflect and offset the blows, so that’s always a nice little thing to give to your minions.

Now we’re getting into some cool designs!  These kite shields are a little more medieval fantasy, and the look of them just pops.  I wouldn’t be totally off-base in saying that I’m likely going to steal one of these for a future character concept.  We didn’t need Sergei to go this hard with the shields, but he did, and they look great.  And if you thought these looked good, just wait till you see the more exotic sort of equipment we’re moving toward.

We’ll be back shortly after the New Year with a zigzag back to weapons.  Things are going to get a little crazy, and then the new shields really, really pop.

And keep in mind, they’ll only be the first half you actually see!

Until next time.

Howdy folks!  So, we are nearing the end of our time in Merge Dungeon (until we can reasonably come back to try and give it new life as a mobile title).  That said, we’ve still got a few things to show off, and we likely won’t be able to get everything wrapped up until February at the latest.  There is one chamber in the dungeon that is continuing to lift a lot, and that’s our equipment chamber.  It allows players to permanently upgrade certain aspects of their army, and gives them an opportunity to see some incredibly rare merges.  Today, we’re going to be looking at the first set of weapons.

It should seem pretty reasonable that the first set of weapons you could get in the game are pretty rudimentary.  We even start with just a stick, something that the simplest of monsters could swing around.  But as you move along, we get wooden weapons with a little more finesse to their creation, from cudgels, to metal-capped clubs, to spiked clubs.

After that, the blacksmith has his work cut out for him, because he’s crafting hammers and axes with a little more oomph to them.  We start with a simple hammer, then create one with some nice spiky bits, and then completely forego the blunt weapons and move to crescent-edged axes.

Each equipment room has thirty items that you can work your way up through.  That means that what you’re seeing here is just the tip of the iceberg.  We still have another set of weapons that we’ll show off, but only the most die-hard mergers are going to see the most impressive weapon sets.

We also have some defensive equipment we’re going to show off soon, so be on the lookout for that around the end of the year.
