Howdy folks.  We’re back after an especially busy November, thanks to NaNoWriMo, but it’s time to get back into other people’s worlds a little more ardently.

And what a world we’re going to visit today.  Author M. K. Theodoratus delivers something for just about everyone who is a fan of fantasy with her imagined world of Andor.  In it, elves, demons, mages and ghosts make up a land where anything is possible, and things are a bit supernatural.

A great place to start is The Ghost in the Closet, which puts an awesome twist to classic ghost stories and hauntings.

Over the years, Dumdie Swartz has developed many weird habits to hide the fact she sees ghosts. When her boss fired her because he thought her trances were mini-strokes, Dumdie becomes homeless, just another old lady living in her car.

Being homeless isn’t Dumdie’s biggest problem. When she finds a room at a private shelter, Dumdie discovers the ghost of the previous owner haunts her room, a ghost with a problem of her own. Her will is lost, and the shelter’s existence is threatened. Dumdie must conquer her fear of upsetting people if she’s to find the will and save the shelter for herself and the other ladies.

Read a different kind of ghost short story.

Of course, that’s just one of the stories that Theodoratus unleashed over the past four years.  We’re all lucky to have this lovely author sharing their fantasy tales at an affordable cost.

Happy Black Friday everyone!  Hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving with your friends and family.  I think it might be my favorite holiday… it’s the most relaxing—except for whoever has to cook.  And it’s nice to have a tradition that really asks you to put into perspective all the things that you have to be thankful for.

We have something to be thankful for today.  E.J. Willis is a storyteller that you should keep your eye on, because there is no doubt that she’s going to be rising to the top of the fantasy genre soon.  Her Tales from Falyncia series was released earlier this year to glowing reviews, and it’s easy to see why.  Battle for the Throne, the first book in the series, brings together all the ingredients to make a successful, entertaining read: well-written characters, intriguing sequences and little secrets that will have you yearning for more.

Alaina is determined to free the Kingdom of Falyncia from a tyrant’s rule. However, behind the tyrant lies an enemy more powerful than any mortal, and he will stop at nothing to keep Alaina off the throne.

The sword quivers in Alaina’s hand. With one final stroke, she can slay the gladiator, win back her kingdom… and lose the trust of her people forever.

The Kingdom of Falyncia is caught in a battle between a guardian spirit and powerful demon, and Alaina barely escapes with her life. Yet she vows to one day claim the throne. When she finally returns home, the enemy has her in his grasp. Now she must choose between freedom and staying true to her people. If she fails to kill the gladiator, torture awaits. Can she find the courage to face it? Or will the demon triumph again?

Battle for the Throne is a book that you’ll speed through as you move from one sequence to the next.  Though you’ll no doubt be left wanting more, you don’t need to fret, as more tales from the world of Falyncia are on the way.  Be sure to pick up Battle for the Throne now while it’s only 99 cents on Amazon, a deal that ends December 1st!

If you’re looking for more from this up-and-coming storyteller, check out Willis’ personal website to see her short stories and her blog.

Mythologies of all cultures are incredibly interesting to me, and I’d be willing to believe that you can spot a few of their inspirations sprinkled throughout Tellest.  From the pantheon of the world’s gods, to the aptly named winged elf, Icarus, there is no end to how far Tellest can be taken with those old legends as a muse.  As you can tell, I’m quite fond of Greek myth most of all.

That’s why it is a privilege to introduce you to Murray Lee Eiland Jr and the first book in The Orfeo Saga, The Sword of Telemon.  The author deftly weaves his story with interesting characters, a world that seems both familiar and exotic, and beautiful prose.  Eiland Jr writes in such a way that you don’t just feel drawn to the story, you somehow feel transported to it—a storyteller’s ultimate victory.

Sword of Telemon

A young Achaean prince (from northern ancient Greece) is captured in a raid. His younger brother Orfeo, and a group of warriors are sent on a mission to look for him. Telemon, a legendary warrior, and Zurga, an elderly wanderer, are soon joined by Clarice, a girl who is a master of disguise. To their dismay they find that the kidnapped prince has been made a galley slave and that the maritime power of Thera plans to conquer the entire Mediterranean. Can they avert disaster?

If you should find yourself interested in this wonderfully crafted tale, you can purchase the first book in The Orfeo Saga on Amazon. The Sword of Telemon has been earning high praise there, and it’s easy to see why!
