Greetings questers!  We’re into the final three sets of adventurers for our Quantum Quest expansion, and each of these three sets includes one of the characters from our new cover.  I’m very excited to see how everybody likes these characters.  We’re looking at the orcs today though.  In the original game, they were represented by a massive five characters, so we trimmed them down to just three for this set for the sake of balance.  Let’s dive right in.

Those are our three orcs.  They’re all deadly in their own ways, but are they strong enough to challenge the dangers of the living dungeon?  Let’s find out more about each of the adventurers to see what they’ve got going on.

Bho’zak Brudag is a loner, of sorts.  He’s a desert-dwelling orc that’s learned the ways of magic, and can tap into the aether if he’s able to keep his concentration.  His studies have left him a bit frail, but he’s still a powerful geomancer who can utilize the chambers in the dungeon to great effect.

Kitha Krug is a soldier whose become well known among her people.  She’s an incredibly sturdy warrior, making her a great addition to any party that’s going through the gauntlet of traps and monsters in the dungeon.

Durza Kharzan is an assassin from Felwain.  While Felwain is more of an honor-driven orc city, there are some shadowy sects there, and Durza has been a part of each of them from time to time.  Hopefully that stealth and skulduggery can help her make it through the dungeon alive.

That wraps things up for our orcs today.  I forgot to mention earlier, but Bho’zak was the orc that ended up getting the cover treatment.  He’s going to be awesome on the banner when we get that printed up!

Stay tuned over the next couple weeks when we show off the rhinotaurs who will be venturing into the dungeon!

Hello there, brave heroes.  It’s been a couple weeks, so that means it’s time to see what new adventurers will join you in the dungeon for Quantum Quest’s first expansion.  We’ve already gone through a whole slew of others that will venture into the dark and dangerous chambers.  Today, it’s time to see which minotaurs are joining the crew.

This group of minotaurs, a thief, a mage, and two clerics, are a sturdy bunch, making up for the fact that there are no warriors in the group.  Let’s find out a little bit more about them:

Londi Talbion is known as the Ghost of Asteria because of his white fur and light grey outfit.  He’s good at getting in and out of places without being spotted, but even if he was, he’s ridiculously tough, especially for a thief.

Goruk Sharo is from New Minoa.  He’s a healer that believes in the power of prayer, recalling what happened to the island of Minoa and the tragedies that befell it, but knowing that his people yet survived.  That faith fuels him, and should help him to keep his allies alive in the dungeon.

Fresa Cazena is another cleric, but she’s ready to be a martyr should she be required to.  Anything that gives her party control of more chambers is worth her life, as far as she’s concerned.  Still, she’s got a good sense of humor, all things considered.

Finally, we’ve got Norala Ingus.  She’s a geomancer from Saveon who seems pretty tame at first glance, but she doesn’t let anyone get in her way, or try to undermine her.  She’s unrivaled among her peers, which should come in handy in the dungeon.

That’s it for our minotaurs.  They’re each tough and ready to give it their all as they venture into the living dungeon.  If you play your cards right (pun sort of intended), some of them might just make it out alive.

Next time around, we’re actually down to the final three.  The orcs are on deck, and we’ve got a pretty cool trio, including one of the ones that’s on the cover of the Blue Box banner.  Stay tuned!

Howdy questers!  We’re back with our next set of adventurers from the upcoming Quantum Quest expansion.  We’re down to our final third of the heroes who are going to be diving deeper into the dungeon, and I think out of all of them, this set is my favorite (the trolls come close too).  Let’s check out the members of this latest group.

It’s a really cool bunch of lizardfolk, and Sergei made sure that each of them looks positively awesome.  Let’s get to know them a little more.

Hailing from the city of Lilandria, Jindara Kithis is known for her immense strength.  Word is, she can shoot an arrow as far as a ballista can shoot a bolt.  You’re in big trouble if she’s accurate, too.

Orayl was introduced in passing in Aaron Canton’s Tellest short story, Lavos and his Final Night.  A member of the Hillslash tribe, he essentially doomed Lavos to die, even though we never saw him “on paper.”  Sergei brought this lagano mage to life for Quantum Quest though, and he looks spectacular.

Xera Komna is a priestess from Norkoth, but she doesn’t heal wounds or preach the faith in one of their temples.  Rather, she purges weakness from warriors and helps them continue their ferocious attacks.

Jatlis Cresk is a lagano outlaw with some pretty cool gear.  She’s got water blasters that she uses to set off traps from afar, and pretty much all of the followers of Hudorian love her for it.  She gets a bonus if she’s hanging out with some other lizardfolk as well.

There you have it: a quartet of badass lagano.  They’re varied and distinct, and they likely never would have run into one another were it not for the living dungeon.

We’ll be back in three weeks to start looking at the next set.  The minotaurs are going to be getting some nice representation in that sneak peek!

Hello there questers!  Did you know that we have officially crossed the threshold and are now halfway through the new adventurers for Quantum Quest’s first expansion?  Time flies, doesn’t it?  Today, we’re going to be spending time talking about the kaja from this new set, adding four new adventurers to the mix to join the four from the original game.

None of these characters have graced any of the books or short stories, which I think is a pretty impressive feat, considering how awesome they all look.  Let’s learn a little bit more about these adventurers, and see if we like their chances in the living dungeon.

Denal Gamore might seem like he’s ill-equipped to handle the dangers of the dungeon’s terrible chambers, but he’s good for inspiring his allies and raising morale.  The one bad thing is that when he falls and the music stops, things can get a little worse off than before he came around.

This is one of my favorite-looking adventurers from either set.  Jai Shadiri is big and tough, and he’ll definitely be one of the adventurers who will last the longest in the dungeon.  He’s not witty or overly charismatic, but he gets the job done.

Manali Varezo is the kind of mage who does everything in her power to help out her allies.  Before she found herself in the dungeon, she led her tribe in an exodus across a scorching desert, relying on her magic to keep them safe.

Not to be outdone by kaja mages, Valda Irion made her own pilgrimage through a harsh desert—but she did it alone.  It was a test of her faith, and she came through believing more than ever in the deities she and her sisters believed in.

So there you have it.  Four brave kaja willing to risk it all in the dungeon in order to claim victory over others who would use its power to gain the upper hand in their realm.  But perhaps these kaja will end up on opposing sides.  Only time will tell!

We’ll be back in three weeks.  You’ve seen the cats—it’ll be time to see the dogs then!

Hello there folks!  It’s time for another installment of “check out the new QQ characters.”  This one is especially cool to me, because we have so many Tellest novel characters making their way into this set.  This is actually the largest group of established characters within one group, so there’s a lot to talk about!

Those first three are all characters that have been written about, and the fourth character received her very name because of an ancient queen who once ruled in her country, so there’s a lot of established lore to fall back on.  Let’s see more about them.

Conrad the Blessed was mentioned as having things that he was accountable for in As Darkness Falls, but he became a bit more important in The Enemy Within before he was given his own story with Blessings and Curses.  He has a lot that he’s going to have to do in the future, so it’ll be interesting to write about him—but will it be more fun to play with him in your party?  You’ll have to wait until QQ Blue is released to find out!

Kelvin Drakos is one of the oldest characters we have in our game and our series.  Along with Alicia Mane, he’s been around since the beginning.  Most recently, he’s been the protagonist in the Silver Serpent debut novel, as well as the upcoming Heart of the Forest.

Lucinda is a relatively new character, comparatively speaking.  She debuted in the sequel to Mageborn, Transformed.  This saucy older sorceress is a master of transformative magic (though less so than making lewd comments to handsome gentlemen).  I like having her in the game, since it goes to show you that heroism comes in all forms and ages.

Finally, we have Ylva Tychos.  Tall, slender, completely new to the Tellest universe.  That said, her namesake comes from the old dwarven queen in Rhianna DeAngelo’s Midwinter Requiem.  This Ylva has got her own stories to make, and it’ll be interesting to see if anyone picks up that writing task in the future.  We’ll see!

That’s it for our human heroes from this new set.  I hope that if you liked these characters from the books, you were excited to see them show up in Quantum Quest.  We’ll be back in three weeks to show off the Kaja, a quartet of new and varied heroes from around the world of Tellest.

Howdy everyone.  It’s been a few weeks, and now it’s time to look at some sprites again.  We’ve been playtesting the new expansion like crazy, but we still have a lot of work to get to the point where we’re ready to check the box next to it and say it’s ready to go.  With that in mind, let’s look at the tiniest checkbox we have: the gremlins.

They’re tiny, but as you’ll see, they pack a big punch.  Let’s get into more detail about our diminutive race.

With Runo Lanisa (and most of the gremlins, actually), we lean all in with out easter eggs and in-jokes.  This gremlin paladin is notoriously stingy, but that’s not all.  He takes out loans and never repays them.  What a jerk!  A Lanisa never pays their debts.

Onyx Grouse is an old school gremlin.  Hailing from the gremlin city of Glisgin, she’s been working on her magic and her studies.  She’s modeled herself off of the wizards of old, but she doesn’t quite have the look down pat, thanks to her small size and limited resources.

Akela Cresol is one of our tiniest gremlins, but man does she pack a punch.  She’s a sapper, and she never leaves a bomb behind.  In fact, in her pack, she even has a proximity explosive that needs to be adjusted every few moments or else it arms itself.  That’s bad news for anyone who tries to pass her by if she succumbs to the dangers of the dungeon.

This one’s a cool one.  I think Merron Dath is our first official relative of an existing Quantum Quest adventurer.  If you’ll recall, we introduced Merris Dath in the original set of QQ.  Merron is also a character from a book, as he briefly showed up in Heart of the Forest.

So, there you have it.  That’s your set of gremlins from the new expansion.  Next time around, we’ll be showing you the humans, and arguably our biggest set of characters that had already been introduced within the Tellest lore at one time.  Stay tuned!

Hey folks!  It’s been three weeks, and you know what that means: it’s time to look at another race of adventurers for the upcoming standalone expansion of Quantum Quest.  We already showed you dwarves, elves, gnolls and gnomes.  Now it’s time to see those sneaky goblins.

Since we only had three goblins last time (and all male, at that), we bumped up the volume, and bumped up the gender.  Let’s learn a little bit more about each of these goblins, and see what makes them different, and what makes them worthy to enter the Living Dungeon.

Shudruk Khor is a goblin scoundrel.  He’s a fighter, yes, but he’s also a lover.  He exudes charm and charisma, even catching members of other races off guard.  He’s meticulous about his presentation, and works it into his encounters often.

Perda has that rather bohemian look to her, which is pretty interesting for a goblin, along with that long white hair.  She’s a cleric, but not exactly the nicest one.  Though she can heal her allies, she’s more often than not putting on a pretty face for her foes, and being sneaky about wearing them down.

Kiirta is an interesting one.  We introduced a character named Giirtu in the novel Awake, and one of our artists came up with a character design based on him and his (until then unknown) progeny.  Kiirta wants vengeance for her imprisoned father, and she’s been looking for the people responsible for his capture.

Grunar Zarak is a warrior’s warrior.  He’s the deadliest fellow among this group, and he’s known among his city of Brynmarr as a force to be reckoned with.  When his foes see him on the field of battle, they might think they’ve got everything under control since he’s not well-armored.  But he’s got the kind of offense that makes for a good defense.

Finally, we have Straka Radley.  She is absolutely not the kind of person you want to get on the bad side of.  As strong as she is intelligent, Straka can fulfill multiple roles within the dungeon.  She wields a tremendous flanged mace that she uses to bash skulls in with, but if she ends up too wounded to wield it, she’s not opposed to flinging a fireball into the face of her enemy.  Straka also has a bit of a sadistic side as well.  She likes to inflict as much pain on her foes as she can before they die.

So, altogether not so nice a bunch of people, huh?  They don’t exactly play well with others, but having one of these deadly goblins in your crew could definitely help you navigate the dungeon a little better.  Just watch your back when you’re moving about!

We’ll be back in another three weeks with a look at the expansion’s gremlins.  Maybe they won’t be as nasty to work with!

Hello friends!  We’re back today to look at yet another set of Quantum Quest sprites.  Following our natural progression, that brings us to the gnomes today.  In keeping with our balance, since we had five gnomes in our first set, we only feature three in this latest set.  Here’s a “down-the-line” preview for you as well: if and when we eventually do our third set, we’ll have even fewer characters because we’re adding a brand new card type.  More on that later though.

We’ve got some cool characters here, so let’s get right to it and explain how these gnomes get down to business.  As always, we’ve got some pretty interesting tidbits of their backstories, and it’s time to find out what makes them tick.

Eryn Mattix is one of our tiniest heroes across the board.  She’s from a bit further in the future when technology is a little more prevalent in Tellest.  We call her a technomancer, and one of the things that she’s trying to perfect is teleportation.  Unfortunately, it’s not a tried and true method of moving through the dungeon, and sometimes there are problems.

On the other side of the coin, Elden Goshen doesn’t care too much about technology.  He’s a big fan of what he knows works, so he’s got a hefty set of equipment.  He knows that it’s tough to move around, but he’s pretty much a slow-moving tank, so who cares?

Finally, we have Mammon Durthik.  He is all about making sure his friends and allies are comfortable and safe.  A healer above all else, Mammon is definitely a defensive roaming gnome.

That’s it for the gnomes from our first expansion.  We’ll be back in a couple of weeks with a quintet of goblins who are there to bring the pain to the living dungeon!

Hi fantasy fans and quantum questers!  I’m excited to show off some new adventurers from the upcoming expansion of Quantum Quest.  We’ve already had the opportunity to show you the dwarves and elves who you’ll be playing as in the game.  Today it’s time to show off the first returning “evil” race.

As you can see, we’ve got a pretty decent set of gnolls this time around, though we have far fewer than with the original game.  Every race gets their time to shine, and it was time for the gnolls to have fewer representatives here.  But who are our gnolls, and what do we know about them?  Read on to find out.

Artak Saltpaw is a gnoll pirate.  He’s also kind of a mascot for the ship that he helps crew, The Howling Glory.  Not many people expect to see Artak out on the sea, but he’s definitely earned his sea legs, and can hold his own upon ship or island.

Fango Pace is a pyromancer from Saveon—specifically the country of Iradel.  Iradel is known for its deserts and wastelands, as well as a beautiful oasis city, but Fango rarely gets to see them, as he hunts down vampiric versions of his brethren, using his magic to light the way.

Eita Urtark is a pugilist from the gnoll city of Cynos.  They’re known for their combat training, but Eita, in particular, is known for being pretty chaotic with her encounters.  Once she draws first blood, she discards her weapons, and goes to work with her bare hands, claws and all.

That’s it for our gnoll reinforcements.  Stay tuned for the next set in just a few weeks!

Well folks, we’re coming up to the end of an era.  We started working on these sprite art sets early last year, and now we’re officially done showing them off today.  We’ve gone through thirteen other races, and we’re officially at the end, with the trolls of Tellest.

gaul-vash pash-ert quirl-rockfist

That’s as diverse a line-up as any of the other ones I think you’ve seen in the Tellest sprites we’ve shown off so far.  We’ve got skinny sickly ones, somewhat attractive ones, and monstrous, “gonna-eat-you-up” ones.  But what makes ’em all tick?

gaul-vash-4x

Gaul Vash is a sickly, sniveling creature, who would be considered ugly by any race.  But with all that said, he still adds value to those around him.  As a mage from Kyramas, he’s prepared himself for sacrifice for years, and he’s just looking for the perfect reason.  Perhaps the mysterious dungeon is the one he’s been searching for.

pash-ert-4x

Pash Ert, meanwhile, is on the opposite end of the spectrum, as far as trolls are concerned.  With pseudo-elven features, she’s a very attractive person.  Unfortunately, just as Gaul gives his life to others, Pash takes what she needs.  There is a natural law that she alters to meet her needs: when Pash is near others, she will heal faster, but others won’t heal at all.  She is a survivor from Skar’dell, after all.

quirl-rockfist-4x

Our third and final troll champion hails from Grim’s Hold.  Quirl Rockfist fulfills the stereotype of what a troll would look like. Long tusks and green, scaly skin might make her look unattractive to the fairer races of Tellest, but to her own race, she’s a tremendous beauty.  She’s tough as nails to boot, and would make a good ally to anyone she could prove her loyalty to.

trolls-4x

Well, there you have it folks.  That’s the final race group shot that we have for our upcoming card game.  Now, don’t despair.  We still have a lot of stuff left to show off.  Serge did an amazing job with dungeon chambers and backgrounds as well.  We can’t wait to show them off!
