Greetings, travelers.  Welcome back to another post that has to do with the great sigils of Tellest.  Today we’re back looking at sigils from the world in Saveon, and we’ll be looking at a rhinotaur city of great renown.  It is also perhaps the biggest rhinotaur city in the world, so it’ll be fun to dive in a bit deeper.  Let’s get into it and find out more about the city of Theria.

Theria is a place that we haven’t seen up close and personal yet, but we do know of some of our characters who hail from there.  All three of them were introduced in Quantum Quest, with the first two, Lannis Jarl and Noth Vox, coming from our first set, while Roka Berasia once hailed from Theria and was introduced in the Reinforcements set.  Folks from all walks of life come from Theria, which is a big, beautiful city that sits along the northeastern coast of Saveon.  This sprawling city is giant, and while they don’t often travel by sea or have a powerful navy, their city can be easily seen from the sea, especially their immense building to their god, Cerox.  Though no one knows for sure anymore, it is suggested that he was the inspiration for the sigil.

You don’t get to be the biggest and best by being last (usually).  Theria has been around for a while, having found a place where they can make trade with other kingdoms, spread out as much as they need to, and fend off anyone who tries to take their land.  As such, some of their sigils are showing their age somewhat, so it’s not unlikely to see the image of the rhinotaur get some nicks and chips, especially when they’re seen on the ground.  It’s not easy to persist under the weight of the heavy citizens!

We mentioned that Theria is on the coast, but also that they’re not typically known for their naval prowess.  We also mentioned the weight of these massive people, so when you put two and two together, you might see why their not quite known for their presence aboard ships.  That said, there’s still plenty of reason to wave their banners high.  The flag of Theria hangs from some of their tallest buildings (no idea how they managed to get them safely up there, however), and it’s also been known to be present upon pilgrimages from citizens who have left the city some time ago.

The painted version of the sigil is probably used a little less these days, just because it’s a little unwieldy being a rhinotaur and trying to paint with your hands.  But there are likely still some artisans within the city who take it seriously, and work their talents despite whatever might get in their way.  The painstaking process of getting everything right, and knowing that over time wear and tear will present itself might make it seem like a waste of time, but there also might be no better way to honor the gods, Cerox first among them.

As always, we leave you with one final picture: the phone background.  I hope you enjoy it!

That will be it for today, but as you can likely tell by now, we’ve still got plenty of sigils that we’re planning on bringing your way.  We love fleshing this world out, and bringing forth more life from all corners of it!

Howdy!  We’re back again to look at another of the Tellest continents, and see how everything in the world works.  Let’s dive in, and see how this continent ticks.

From top to bottom, we have, in teal, the kingdom of Karsica, which is where Lyla, Retrus and Seeger are from.  In fact, at various points, they’ve found themselves in the capital city of Valtega, which we’ll likely be seeing a lot more of in the years to come.  Below that is the savannah kingdom of Seradel.  It’s home to some Rhinotaur folk that we may have seen in the past.  To the west of that, in the dark red, we have Flintwell, which is allied with Jaxom, one of the lords of Tarson.  It’s a bit of an uninhabitable place, thanks to volcanic ash and rock that fell all over it in the past.  It’s essentially become a wasteland.  Below that, we have Iradel, in light green, which is the desert stretch that is basically made up of the Kehara desert and the various oases there.  We know Kaiyonani from there, of course, but there are other heroes we’ll be seeing from there soon as well.  To the east of that is Vendra, which is also home to some Rhinotaur who we’ve seen before.  Then, the lime green is Dathala, which we don’t really know a lot about right now, along with Gerivus, which has gone unexplored by myself or any other Tellest writers yet.

And if you don’t want to see all that overlay, here’s what the continent looks like when it’s not being divided by the kingdoms.

Below, you’ll be able to see some quick looks at a few of the things that we’ve got going on behind the scenes.  The first is a version of Saveon that shows the “writer ready” characters who our freelancers can write about (although technically, two of them have since been taken off the board, as Aaron Canton brought them to life in his Halloween story).  The middle image is just a quick look at the continent with just its, at the time, cities present.  And the one on the right shows our official characters, including Kaiyonani, Retrus, and Lyla.

We’ve actually since added sigils and characters to these places.  Francois did an absolutely wonderful job with the sigils, and helped us add a new city that we didn’t originally have here.  Meanwhile, Wern has been giving us characters like crazy!  There’s a very good chance that in a year or so, we’ll just do a sweeping cartography update that shows a variety of those things all at once.

We’ll be back with a look at another map in three weeks, so stay tuned!

Hey there!  We are back with another new Tellest map.  Today we’re going to be spending a little bit of time in Saveon.  As I said a few weeks back, I’ve been putting a lot of work into the Tellest World Anvil, so if you want to see the world and be able to interact with it, you can certainly head over there.

Let’s not waste too much time, and just jump right in!  This is the next map we’re looking at, Saveon.

So this first look shows us the various countries that you’ll see.  There’s some cities in the image as well, marked by little red dots.  And then anything not included in a red circle is untamed wilderness not belonging to any specific nation.

Here we have a cleaned up version of the continent with no overlay.  Saveon isn’t quite as large a continent as Lustra, but it’s perhaps more varied in its various biomes.  There’s deserts, savannah, even a volcanic wasteland!

And I also decided to keep things moving with the parchment versions that I’ve been playing with.

Just like with Lustra, I’ve got an Inkarnate map waiting in the wings as well.  You’ll see that one soon.

Saveon is a place that we’ve spent only a small amount of time, though I’m at least a little familiar with it because of the characters who hail from there.  We actually spent time with Kaiyonani and Talarus there.  And Lyla, Seeger and Retrus are from the northern part of the continent as well.  Finally, there’s a character I’ve been working on, The Desert Wraith, who is from there as well.  Perhaps we’ll see more of her soon.

Hey folks!  It’s new book day, and it’s a very special one for us today. This marks the first step into a new journey.  While all the books that came out in Tales of Tellest (as well as the Tellest Legends campaign’s Lord of Thunder) focused on established characters in the Tellest brand, this newest adventure introduces a brand new set of characters from a continent that we’ve heard of but never seen.

Not only that, but it allows us to explore a race that was only witnessed in short stories or deleted scenes.  The kaja are one of the first anthropomorphic races I’ve written about—we haven’t had a chance to play with centaurs or minotaurs, but we did have a story about kobolds.  In any case, this is definitely the longest tale I’ve told where an anthro character is the star of the show.  Kaiyonani is an awesome character who is only going to grow as we give her and her dragon companion some meatier stories in the future.

Kaiyonani knows what it’s like to be a cat of the Kehara desert. The harsh sands around her tribe’s oasis are hot and savage, and there are enemies abound throughout the region. The one thing her people had to rely on was their fierce dragon ally, Iraneth.

But now, the dragon is dead.

Kaiyonani’s grandfather fulfilled the role of dragonspeaker. It is a title that is passed down from one kaja to the next, though it usually changes hands because a mortal has died—not one of the majestic winged creatures they call friend. The next dragonspeaker has been named, and to everyone’s surprise, it is Kaiyonani who is destined to take up the mantle. She must venture across the desert, to lands unknown in order to make the bond with her own dragon companion,

But can she survive the cruel wilderness and dangerous creatures that call Saveon and the Kehara Desert home?

Dragonspeaker just released today, and it’s available for the low introductory price of just 99 cents.  You can’t beat that!  Why not check it out on Amazon today?
