This month has been a big month for L.E.Parr and Tellest.  We’ve been spreading the word about her Fariidinus series because the newest book released, and it’s always great to bring attention to a great series.  Fariidinus is so big that it’s easy to overlook Parr’s other spectacular fantasy series, though that shouldn’t be the case as it’s awesome in its own right.

Sirenhawk is to shapeshifting avians what Fariidinus is to its lethal fairies.  It’s still urban fantasy, but it definitely has a distinct feel to it.  For one, the Sirenhawk books are a little more whimsical.  It’s also a mite steamier (Parr definitely knows what fans of shifters want).  Best of all, the third book is on the way.  Read below to see the blurb for the first book in the series.

Iceria, Ice, is a hawk-human shapeshiifter. It’s Ice’s job to protect the Northern Corridor from the hereditary enemy of the sirenhawks, the deadly she’ravens. Iceria’s sisters consider her a little odd. She is a literal thinker, she loves shiny baubles and jewelry and her favorite book is an old English dictionary. In human form, Ice and all her kind are sirens of myth and legend. As the battle against the deadly she’ravens escalates, Ice discovers two things about herself. The first, she has a warrior’s heart and the second, she’s capable of falling in love in a very human way.

It’s a great time to pick up the Sirenhawk books, especially if you’re riding the Fariidinus high.  Parr does a phenomenal job with these stories, and promises more to come before you know it.  If you like shifter fantasy, this is going to be one you’re going to remember.  Check out the series page on Amazon today!

Wrapping up our month of Fariidinus coverage, we know what you’ve come for.  L.E.Parr has been hard at work with a new series, but she isn’t leaving fans of her debut one in the cold.  The sixth book in the Fariidinus series, Lights and Shadows, released just last month, and it continues the legacy that Parr has created while introducing new twists and turns.

Parr is also a master of balancing not just multiple storylines that come together, but also moods and elements of storytelling.  Fariidinus has always been magical (and the Heartland continues to be in this latest release), but we also see real life sewn into the lines of the tale that make it come to life even more.  Parr excels at making you feel for her characters, and for Lights and Shadows, there’s no exception.

Shannon, a human girl recovering from the terrible car accident that took her mother’s life arrives in the Heartland where she is confronted with the impossible. She makes friends among the wyr and the nixla and enters into the most compelling relationship of her life when a heartbroken bloodcat chooses her for a complement.

Lights and Shadows is a worthy entry in this storied series. It’s rich with storytelling and world-building, as is usual for Parr, but the beating heart of the tale is the emotional journey that Shannon goes on.  Parr does an excellent job of taking her readers through a tragedy to see the beautiful outcome.  If you enjoyed the Fariidinus series thus far, there’s no reason to delay.  Pick up Lights and Shadows on Amazon today!

Howdy folks!  We’re on our last week of “Fariidinus Month” coverage (it’s an abbreviated month), but author L.E.Parr continues to deliver fantastic material for us to share.  We’re up to the fifth book in this stellar series, and once more, Parr shines as she introduces us to a new heroine with new powers.

In Wings of the Sea, we meet Dee, who demonstrates gifts that nobody has seen before.  Her introduction not only leaves her as an interesting character who can be taken down surprising avenues, but it also builds on this world that Parr has laid the foundation for.  The Heartland continues to grow in all directions, and Parr continues to flex her storytelling muscles.  A blend of old and new characters takes this tale to new heights, and the depths of the Heartland’s seas, in ways that will have you eager to turn the next page to discover what follows.

MELODY, Dee, was the youngest child to fall under Letal’s knife. It was her culling that finally goaded Kirin into the war. Even though her xylin node was left intact, Dee’s wings never recovered and she cannot fly. But, Dee, has an extraordinary gift, never seen before in the species. She can control the sea and communicate with the little mermaids, the merikin. When one of the Houses conspires to destroy Kirin with poison, they experiment on the merikin with great loss of life. In a desperate attempt to save the merikin and the Heartland seas, Dee races against time and miles to lead her friends to safety.

The Fariidinus saga is a tremendous ride to be brought along on.  L.E.Parr has such an apparent love of her world and her characters, and she balances all the things that a good fantasy needs with such talent.  She brings together the amazing threads of the story, the characters and the world in a way that looks almost effortless.  If you want a robust urban fantasy series that won’t let you down, you want Fariidinus.  And if you want this fifth book in that great series, you want to pick up Wings of the Sea on Amazon today!

Come on back here on Thursday to see the sixth book in Parr’s series!

In continuing our “Fariidinus Month” coverage of L.E.Parr’s lethal fairy series, we’ve crossed over from one trilogy into the beginning of the next.  Most people who want to write never get started.  Of those who do, most of them stop after their first book.  Parr waves her hand and she’s got not only one trilogy done, but an additional trilogy after that that takes her readers deeper into the lore of her world (not to mention another series entirely besides).

In Glissin, Aramix is the half-blood daughter of a farii and a human.  It’s a clever and compelling way to take the original groundwork that Parr spent the first three books developing in order to venture down avenues the readers hadn’t had the opportunity to yet.  As always though, Parr is a champion storyteller who gives Glissin a chance to shine.  The Heartland grows ever more vast, and Parr takes a new character and elevates her to awesome new heights.

ARAMIX is the half human-half fariidinus daughter of Ayleen and Ian. She was born to support the Heartland’s chosen queane, but, as her glissin talents have matured so has her temper and sense of injustice. To protect Kirin, Aramix has been raised at the Lighthouse. When the nixla, who can shield Kirin from Aramix’s ability to tap into a queane’s deadly power, fall ill with a virulent plague, Aramix is able to reach through the mist and ignite the fire inside Kirin. Several Houses seize the opportunity to rise against the weakened queane. Stone orders Aramix back to the Heartland and into the custody of Arkana, the glissin PrimeMother.

Glissin is lovely foray into the Heartland and the Fariidinus books.  L.E.Parr didn’t miss a step as she stepped from one trilogy into the next.  She consistently delivers wonderful character stories within the greater lore of a growing world.  You’ll be eager to turn every new page, and before you know it, you’ll be ready for the next book.  This series is one that you have a hard time putting down, even four books in.  Continue your journeys through the Fariidinus books.  Pick up Glissin on Amazon today!

Greetings fans of fantasy!  We’re still riding high on our “Fariidinus Month” feature today; with L.E.Parr’s third book highlighted, we’re halfway through her amazing lethal fairy series.  The author triples down with this third installment, making her work look easy while expanding on her great content.

Battle Queane is a worthy follow-up to Wings of the Exile and Sisters of the Blood.  You can feel that Parr was driving to this conclusion: a stunning, final meeting between Kirin and the highmother, Letal.  The fate of the Heartland is at stake here, and Parr pulls out all of the stops to make this one of the best reading experiences you’ll have.

The war in the Heartland is in full swing with Letal sending legions of radicalized fariidinus against Kirin and Stone’s undermanned army. It’s a valiant fight with more losses than victories. Kirin, already a converted battle queane, is changing again. She has developed a poisonous venom in her wings that can kill Letal but to deliver the poison, Letal must be in her arms.  As Kirin continues to become stronger as a weapon, her physical body is weakening. The inevitable face to face confrontation with Letal is terrifying Stone and their loyal supporters who question Kirin’s ability to survive such an encounter.  But, everyone knows that there is no other way to defeat Letal.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: L.E.Parr is one of the hardest workers in urban fantasy today.  She delivers content at an amazing pace, but within that work is also a careful eye for detail and a love for her characters and her growing world.  Nothing is written without intention, and the story flows with such a natural feeling that you’d be hard-pressed to believe you weren’t living through the events of this book.

While Battle Queane does a fantastic job of wrapping up the first Fariidinus trilogy, in some ways it also makes room for the books that were meant to follow it.  Without the foundation this first trilogy laid out, we wouldn’t have three more ready to dive into.  Take a step into the Heartland, and pick up Battle Queane on Amazon today!

Hello folks!  Today, we’re looking once again at L.E.Parr’s Fariidinus series.  This second book about the beautiful-but-lethal fairies, Sister of the Blood, leaned into all the talent that Parr displayed in the first book and cranked it up to 11.

While she was learning how to climb to her feet in the first book, in Sisters of the Blood Kirin stands tall as a compelling and lively protagonist.  The fate of her world is in her hands, and Parr gives her all the tools she needs in order to be up to the task.  The story is written with beautiful eloquence, and will have you ready to turn every page to see how the Heartland will survive the deadly encounters to come.

Kirin and Stone have returned to the Heartland where she has been given sanctuary by the wyrMaster in the Red Valley. Her unprecedented return from exile has polarized the great Houses and enraged the evil HighMother. A divided Heartland quickly becomes embroiled in a fiery civil war with Stone leading the combined armies with their new ally–the winged telepathic bloodcats. Kirin becomes the deadly weapon she was resurrected from exile to be.

With one book, it could be argued that you were just lucky, or that you’ve exhausted all your creative endeavors on that debut title.  L.E.Parr proves that lightning can strike twice (six times, actually, if you count the four that follow this book).  She balances everything you need in a fantasy tale to make it stand out while leaving room to grow in the future.  If these deadly fairies seem to beckon you, give this book and the Fariidinus series a try.  Check out Sisters of the Blood on Amazon today!

Ladies and gentlemen, fans of fantasy, it is my privilege to announce a month of celebration for one of our long-time peers.  L.E.Parr has always been a friend of Tellest, and we jump at every opportunity to bring any and all attention at her fantastic books.  She just recently released book 6 in the Fariidinus series (which you can see on the right sidebar).  Today, we’re revisiting the book that started it all.

There is a world that exists outside of our own, where tumultuous happenings occur that we cannot see.  The Heartland is in turmoil, and only a fey who has been separated from her wings can make a difference.  Parr crafts her debut tale with ease, delivering a new look at fairies that you won’t soon forget.  She also knows her way around the development of her characters, and you’ll find new favorites in Wings of the Exile.

A heart broken exile will do just about anything to have her wings restored including returning to her homeland to start a war.

Kirin, a young fariidinus fey, is judged and condemned to the knife. After her wings are removed, she is exiled to the mainland where she is rescued by Stone, a young man who is part of a group of Heartland expatriates. The expatriates have long had a plan to restore the wings of a fariidinus with the right gifts in order to send her back into the Heartland as a weapon against the evil Highmother, Letal. Kirin is bitter and angry and not sure she wants to be part of the plan until Letal brings her war to the mainland and there is no other choice but to fight back.

Wings of the Exile is a stunning debut story, both for the author and for the series.  Before you know it, you’re in deep, tearing through the pages quicker than you realize.  And it’s never been a better time to do that, as there are now five books waiting for you after you finish this delightful read.  Follow Kirin and the fey of the Heartland, and see what surprises await.  Pick up Wings of the Exile on Amazon today!

Howdy folks! Last July, we had the awesome opportunity to work with one of our favorite authors to bring you news of a new series that she was developing. L.E. Parr is a force in urban fantasy, and she had already done a tremendous job of creating a series with Fariidinus when she brought the Sirenhawk books to bear. Sirenhawk book 3 is about to drop, and we want to highlight the other great books in this series—it’s certainly one you shouldn’t pass up!

Parr is as industrious as they come, and you can definitely tell that she loves to build her worlds and develop her characters in ways you might not expect from the onset. Sirenhawk Book 1: Misborn of the Snowy Reaches is all about shapeshifters, so it’s even cooler to see the players work through the sweeping narrative Parr has prepared for them. You’ll be hooked from the very first page, as this book contains no shortage of steamy flirtations, capricious humor and of course a grand adventure.

The first, she has a warrior’s heart and the second, she’s capable of falling in love in a very human way.

We love hearing every time when Parr has a new book coming out. She’s as dependable a storyteller as there is out there, and you can really tell that she loves what she does. While we were familiar with her lethal fairy series before this, Sirenhawk has cemented itself as a worthy series on its own. The second book nailed it too, and a third one is right around the corner, but this first one is the one that will really sink its talons in you.  Get hooked today with L.E. Parr’s wonderful shapeshifter saga. Pick up Sirenhawk Book 1: Misborn of the Snowy Reaches on Amazon today!

Hello everyone! We’re back, and so are our favorite authors with their own awesome series.  Last week we showed off one of our most fervent allies, and today, we’ve got another one who crushes it every chance she gets.

L. E. Parr has written more books than I can count on a good day, and every time I check out her site, it seems she has more on the way.  If you’re a reader who loves a diligent storyteller, Parr is the right one for you.

Her latest and greatest is the follow-up to her awesome Sirenhawk book.  This sequel, Misborn of the Wilding River, puts the focus on another shifter.  And the book starts as wildly as you can expect.  Once again, Parr delivers a stunning and beautiful look at another way of life, and develops her characters in interesting ways.

Keenan of the wild river country has spent months  imprisoned after she and the sprites were defeated  at the Great River Corridor. With the she’ravens using human thugs to push their way into the hawk protected west, Kee and her sprite allies are looking for a miracle. Enter a god-stag shapeshifter who brings mystery  and love to a sirenhawk who just wants to do right by the people who depend on her.

The misborn war between sirenhawk and she’raven continues along the Great Rivers with Keenan and her familiar, the fennec fox, Sydan, leading the sirenhawks against their hereditary foe.

This is the eighth book that we’ve had the privilege of showing off for L. E. Parr.  And as strong as she started, her stories keep getting bigger and better all the time.  The Sirenhawk series is a fun urban fantasy saga, and it has a certain sexiness to it that you’ll understand when you pick it up.  So what are you waiting for?  Check out Misborn of the Wilding River on Amazon today!

Hey there folks, and welcome to the Otherworld.  We’ve been on a crazy L.E.Parr kick lately, and that doesn’t show signs of stopping anytime soon.

Today, our focus is going to be on the third book in her Fariidinus series, Battle Queane.  It effectively wraps up the original trilogy of her lethal fairy books, but it leaves enough room open for the books that followed.  Kirin is much more on the level with highmother Letal here, which comes to a point that you’re sure to enjoy.

The war in the Heartland is in full swing with Letal sending legions of radicalized fariidinus against Kirin and Stone’s undermanned army. It’s a valiant fight with more losses than victories. Kirin, already a converted battle queane, is changing again. Battle Queane was a wonderful ending of the first books.  There were real stakes, and it looked like it could have wrapped things up with a little bow, but L.E.Parr is nothing if not incredibly diligent.  She’s set to work on another trilogy, and the fourth and fifth books are already available. Those books follow new protagonists though, and there’s nobody quite like Kirin.  Show the Fariidinus your love.  Be sure to check out Battle Queane on Amazon today!
